Admiralty Paints from Caldercraft are a new brand of paints engineered for use by
modellers. The first range in this brand of paint has been designed specifically
for 17th / 18th / 19th Century Man of War colours. This range of scale paints has been
colour matched to the Admiralty colours, as still used on HMS Victory in Portsmouth
.
Unlike other manufacturers, these are not toy paints and have been designed specifically
for use on model ships to give consistent coverage and colour. Available both as Enamel and Waterbased.
A second continually expanding range of paint colours will be added to this section
over the coming months, this range will include more general colours intended for
use
on all models.
Admiralty Paints also includes a one pack metal primer for priming metal components such as brass etchings and white metal fittings.

All NEW Packaging!

Admiralty Paints are touch dry in 2 – 4 hours and hard dry in 8 – 16 hours depending upon drying conditions. These times will be extended under cooler conditions and accelerated under warmer conditions. Admiralty Paints Enamels are all white spirit thinnable and, due to the quality of pigments and solutions used, small amounts can cover larger areas.
When applying more than one coat, the second coat should be applied after 24 hours of the first application. Not only will this ensure the paints do not turn glossy but in many cases, after 24 hours, you will find sufficient coverage from only 1 or 2 coats.
